As you can guess by reading this journal entry, yes, it's my birthday today! One year since I became an adult (for those who don't know, here in Quebec, you're an adult if you are 18).

I received a couple of presents, including lots of money. XD

I also got a French Canadian comic book written by a famous French Canadian TV writer named Claude Meunier (Wait... Why do I even bother mentionning his name when all of you doesn't even know who the heck this guy is? I don't know...).

I also received some tickets for the show of a French Canadian stand-up comic named... Ah! Who cares? You never heard of him as well. Anyway, I'm glad I received all these presents.

And now, if you excuse me, I have a cake who is waiting to be eaten by me. See ya!

Many months ago, I announced that I would make a fanmake of the game “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe” using characters from “Naruto” as the MK characters and characters from the Looney Tunes (including shows from the 90’s like Animaniacs) as the DC Comics characters. But recently, I decided to change my mind about some of the characters I choose for this fanmake. First of all, with a casting coming from my friend Comickook (thank you for that), I’m gonna change the Naruto characters with characters from one of my favorite series: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Why? Well, it’s not that I don’t like Naruto. I still like that anime. It’s just that… well, you just can’t go wrong with the Ninja Turtles. To me, it's WAY better than Naruto and it’s one of the best things in the universe. XD Second of all, some characters from the LT/DC side will change place/be replaced, but nothing too big. Anyway, here’s the casting.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs. LT Universe

Mortal Kombat: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Raiden: Splinter
Liu Kang: Leonardo
Scorpion: Bebop and Rocksteady (sharing the role)
Sub-Zero: Raphael
Jax: Donatello
Johnny Cage: Michelangelo
Kitana: Lotus Blossom (She’s a minor character from the 1987 cartoon.)
Shang Tsung: Shredder (2003 version, but completely human)
Baraka: Hun
Sonya Blade: April O’Neil (2003 version)
Kano: Baxter Stockman (2003 version)
Shao Khan…

Captain Kirk: KAHN!!!!

Knock it off! Anyway…

Shao Khan: Krang
Quan-Chi: Agent Bishop

DC Comics: Looney Tunes
Superman: Bugs Bunny
Batman: Daffy Duck
Wonder Woman/Lois Lane hybrid: Lola Bunny
Flash: Speedy Gonzales (The only character from my DC fanmake series to reprise his role, even though Flash is Barry Allen in this one, while in the Justice League animated series he was Wally West.)
Green Lantern: Tweety Bird
Captain Marvel: Yakko Warner
Nightwing: Porky Pig
Lex Luthor: Yosemite Sam
The Joker: Marvin the Martian
Catwoman: Melissa Duck (from “The Scarlet Pumpernickel” and “Baby Looney Tunes” )
Deathstroke: Rocky
Darkseid: Mr. Swackhammer
Guardians of the Universe: Foghorn Leghorn, Road Runner and any other Looney Tunes birds
Shazam: Dr. Otto Scratchansniff

Characters making a cameo or being mentionned:
Jimmy Olsen: Buster Bunny
Supergirl: Babs Bunny
Lana Lang: Honey Bunny
Brainiac: Dr. Woe (that evil scientist Bugs tangled with in “Water, Water Every Hare”, called Dr. Woe in a Duck Dodgers episode)
Bizarro: Casbah (a big dumb rabbit that Bugs tangled with in some shorts, such as “Hare Splitter” )
Doomsday: Gossamer
Robin/Tim Drake: Plucky Duck
Comissioner Gordon: Dr. I.Q. High
Harley Quinn: The Martian Queen
Killer Croc: Nasty Canasta
Gorilla Grodd: Sylvester
Sinestro: Drake Darkstar (Daffy’s evil twin seen in a DD episode)
Guy Gardner: Henery Hawk
Carrol Ferris: Aaoogah (from “Tweety’s High-Flying Adventure” )
Captain Marvel Jr.: Wakko Warner
Mary Marvel: Dot Warner
Black Adam: King Salazar (the main villain of “Wakko’s Wish” )
Doctor Sivana: Thaddeus Plotz
Lobo: Taz
Creeper: Freakazoid (just like in my DC fanmake series)

Most of these mentionned/cameo characters (as well as Porky as Nightwing) were suggested to me by Comickook as well, so thanks to him again. Any other suggestions for characters playing other MK/DC characters are welcome.

Disney and Marvel Together

Most of you are probably already aware of that since some days : Disney is buying Marvel. Now, I’ve seen a lot of reactions about that. People saying “This is the best thing that could happen to Marvel/Disney!”, others saying “Is that even necessary?” and some others saying “Disney will make Wolverine, Deadpool and all the other kick-ass characters more kid-friendly! Marvel is ruined forever!”

I have to admit I was surprised to see that, but not completely. When I was a young child and learned that Warner Bros. owned DC since many years, I was like “What? The company who created the Looney Tunes also owned the company behind Superman and Batman? Hey! Maybe Disney should do the same with Marvel too! That would be awesome!”

… I never thought it would actually happen. Anyway, over the years, I noticed there was some connections between Disney and Marvel.

-Buena Vista Home Entertainment recently releashed the X-Men 90’s animated series on DVD.

-I once read a Mickey Mouse comics story from a French comics magazine known as “Le Journal de Mickey” (which means “Mickey’s Newspaper” or something like that). The story was about Mickey being bitten by a genetically-modified spider and gradually transforming into a creature that was half-mouse, half-spider. Of course, at the end of the story, he was back to his normal appearance. And you know what was the title of that comics story? That’s right: “Spider-Mouse”.

-In 2007, Stan Lee signed a deal with Disney and his company POW! Entertainment.

When I heard the news, I was quite surprised. But after thinking about it, I think we should just wait and see what’s gonna happen. I mean, if Warner Bros. was able to do great adaptations based on DC characters (if we don’t count movies like Batman & Robin, Steel, Catwoman, Superman IV, etc.), I think Disney can do the same thing as well. Yes, I know, Disney is more for families than WB. But hey, Disney also owned companies like Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films, who are doing more mature films. Also, it’s gonna give more publicity for Marvel. And with all the garbage Disney is doing with HSM, Hannah Montana, etc., it’s about time they do something a little bit better. About those who are afraid Disney will make the characters more kid-friendly, I don’t think they would go THAT far.

The fact Disney is gonna work with Marvel actually inspired me an idea for a fanfiction. I’m thinking about doing a collection of one-shots, where Marvel characters will meet Disney characters. Don’t worry. The Marvel characters ain’t gonna be kid-friendly and the Disney characters won’t swear. I will make sure the characters ain’t gonna be OOC. I have some ideas in mind for these one-shots, such as Mickey appearing with Spidey, Stitch meeting Wolverine, J. Jonah Jameson having a talk with Scrooge McDuck, etc. If you have any suggestions for one-shots featuring Disney and Marvel characters, just let me know.

In other news, Télétoon Rétro is broadcasting five new shows this autumn. For those who don’t know what is Télétoon Rétro, I talked about it in a previous journal entry: [link] Many months ago, they started broadcasting an obscure anime show from the 70’s that is mostly known to the French Canadians: Le Petit Castor (The Little Beaver in French). Now, starting with this month, they are broadcasting five other shows. And they are all coming from Hanna-Barbera. All of these five shows, I remembered watching them when I was younger. There’s Quick Draw McGraw, Wally Gator, Huckleberry Hound, Touché Turtle and, of course, probably the most famous HB cartoon here in Quebec: The Flintstones! I love the Flintstones! Along with Scooby-Doo, it’s my favorite HB show. The theme song, the characters, the background (that keep repeating itself), the music, the catchphrases (Yabba-Dabba-Doo!), the laugh track… It was such a great show. Probably the greatest show that had an influence on “The Simpsons”.

I heard there will be a TMNT crossover special, where the 2003’s characters will meet the 1987’s characters. For some reasons, the 1987’s characters aren’t voiced by the same people who did their voice in the original series. There’s Dan Green who is doing the voice of Leonardo, but it isn’t close enough to Cam Clarke’s performance. Also, the guy who does the voice of Raphael sounds a lot like Rob Paulsen, but it’s not the real Rob Paulsen. That’s good. Anyway, I’m curious to see that special. It’s been a while since we saw Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang. I miss these baddies. There will also be a new game for the Wii called “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up”. The gameplay is similar to Super Smash Bros. They revealed a lot of playable characters, but for some reasons they put the Rabbids in it. Other than for promoting the next Rabbids game, I don’t think it was necessary to put them in a Ninja Turtles game. I saw a video where there was a stage with the Technodrome in the background. That’s… cool.

Some months ago, I re-discovered a short-lived animated show I haven’t watch since many years ago: “The Adventures of Sam and Max: Freelance Police”. The show was based on the characters from Steve Purcell’s comic series and the LucasArt game “Hit the Road”. I remember watching the show in its French-dubbed version when it aired on Télétoon in 1999. That was a fun show to watch, with humorous characters and funny lines. Recently, I watched the show again on YouTube this time. Boy, it was fun to see that show again! There was plenty of things I remembered like Lorne (The Friend for Life!), the fights over the phone (I got it! I got it!) and many others. And after thinking about it, I decided to do a fanmake of that TV series! Normally, I’m not the kind of guy who does fanmakes of TV shows, unless it’s only a fanmake of a specific episode or something like my upcoming DC Comics series fanmake. But since Sam and Max only had 13 half-hours, that’s good enough to me. Anyway, I decided to use one of my all-time favorite friendships as Sam and Max! While doing this fanmake, I’m gonna try to add some jokes of my own, just to make sure it’s not a bland copy of the original series. BTW, I’m also thinking of doing a sequel to that, but featuring only original plots and ideas of my own, instead of doing a fanmake of the different video games based on Sam and Max. That’s pretty much what I have in mind for that.

On other news, I recently bought the second volume of Tiny Toon Adventures on DVD. I enjoyed the first one so much (TTA was one of my most favorite shows when I was younger), I couldn’t resist buying this one. I haven’t watch it yet, but I hope to see the third volume soon, probably next year.

I almost finish The Cartoon Susbpace Emissary. There will be about five chapters to write and I will be done with it. I have a good bunch of ideas I wanna use in these chapters and I’m eager to use them. Meanwhile, I also started writing the next chapter of The Smasher King. I abandon it for a while due to a lose of interest, but now I’m ready to do another chapter.

It’s been a while, but I heard there will be a fifth Ninja Turtles movie, this time in live-action. I heard it will be about the turtles’ origin. While I’m not against another Ninja Turtles movie, I have to say the idea for plot sounds kinda lame. I mean, didn’t they already showed how Splinter and the turtles became mutants in a flashback during the first movie? Anyway, I hope the final product will be better than this basic plot. BTW, this year, it’s been 25 years since the TMNT franchise is born! Isn’t that great?
